Merry Christmas

Each one of you is a special gift on the planet! You are the Christmas tree.

The Christmas tree points upwards and its branches grow on all sides. The Christmas tree has many gifts to offer. It is evergreen throughout the year. It bears gifts and lights not for itself, but for all.

We all have that capacity to blossom to the fullest of human potential.

The gifts you are carrying in your life are for others. You offer the gift of service to anyone one in need, and you will wonder how your needs are being taken care of!

Keep your learning antenna up

Take a first step ASAP

We have an idea. The next step is planning and flushing out the idea- white boards, getting feedback and market surveys. Right? No. The recommendation is to skip all the intellectual masturbation and get straight to action. Don’t think too far – just start! Maybe take 30 mins to do something about your idea. Try your product on someone you meet ( even if they are not the ideal user). As Prof Yunus said, find the first user (or customer) , whack together a very basic product(minimum viable product) and get cracking!

Keep gathering momentum – bite sized improvements

If your MVP works, we tend to go back to the drawing board. You want to foresee the future of your product and plan towards it. But plans work only in a stable world – our world changes very quickly. Change your mindset from planning the entire product to creating iterations of a fully functioning product- keep adding features or making improvements. This gives great momentum and energy. This is particularly useful if you work on some ideas as a “side job” – lack of momentum kills many ideas. Remember your ideas won’t save lives – only the implementation will. So keep pushing out versions of your product. Keep learning and improving.

Fail fast, learn faster

To allow the iterative development process to work, you need a major change in mindset. You need to learn to fail and fail fast. Accept that you are going to screw up and just screw up quickly.  You can’t be an adult without being a baby. Treat each iteration of your product as a lesson and fix one thing at a time. Over time the failures will reduce and the successes increase. But please fail fast and learn quicker.

Ek bachpan aisa bhi

Happy childrens day......

Superb Poem...!!

Ek bachpan ka
zamana tha,

jisme khushiyon ka
khazana tha;

chahat chand ko
paane ki thi,

par dil titli ka
deewana tha.

Khabar na thi
kuch subah ki,

na shaam ka
thikana tha;

thak haarke aana school se, par khelne bhi jaana tha.

Maa ki kahani thi,
pariyon ka fasana tha;
barish mein kagaz ki naav thi, har mausam suhana tha.

Har khel mein saathi the,
har rishta nibhana tha;
gum ki zuban na hoti thi,
na zakhmon ka paimana tha.

Rone ki wajah na thi,
na hansne ka bahana tha; kyon ho gaye hum itne bade, isse achha to
woh bachpan ka zamana tha.........

The realiZation of the Limitless

Avoid Prejudice

Prejudice is the greatest evil, rather the deadliest poison to ones existence. It keeps one confined to himself, losing all access to a broader vision. It creates narrow-mindedness, and all prospects of development and progress are lost to those who pin their soul to it. Prejudice breeds hatred towards others and it is nothing but a feeling of false self-superiority in a disguised form. If you nurture this evil, you thereby add one more link to the existing chain of egoism. Consequently you remain farther away from reality. The realisation of the Limitless thus becomes an impossibility.

Ghagre wali Joy promises

I promise

To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness,  and prosperity to every person I meet.

To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.

To give so much time to improving that I hv no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To forget the mistakes of the past and PRESS on to the greater achievements of the future.

Take that much needed break :)

Only one who knows how to be intense and relaxed at once will know the tru JOY of activity.
The bane of humanity is that people have forgotten

how to relax without turning lax;

how to be intense without turning tense.

That is why a break becomes so important in our lives.
It is important to consciously relax atleast once a week, relax the survival instinct, drop all calculations, jettison all blueprints for self and simply be.

That's more like me and my princess

Spending the holidaysss this way..

*It's Not Easy*

Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you

Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh, let's go back to the start

Running in circles
Coming up tails

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

Oh, take me back to the start

I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart

Do not speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh, and I rush to the start

Coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh, it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard

I'm going back to the start.

All we ask is a chance

The first time I met you I thought you seem very cunning, and I'm usually very wary of cunning people and I try to stay away from them. But as I got to know you over time I realized you're just simple and very transparent. I though id never meet somebody like this ever because I can only imagine me finding such people rarely.

When you tell me stories I tend to get lost in your voice and eyes because everything is so pristine that it makes you wonder where this person had been all along.

I love it when you ask me questions, ask my opinion, give me your opinion, that look you give me when you see me at a place you don't expect to see me

I love how we can be together and talk about anything at all and feel like I'm talking to a counterpart of my soul. I love how we smile in the middle of our conversations for no apparent reason. I love your pauses, when you look for vocabulary words to fill and enrich your sentences, the childish looks we give each other. I love it all.

The last few days I've been in awe to find out how somebody I thought would be a cunning girl has turned out to be more than a potential companion. The little kid inside me has been so excited to find someone so clear and pleasant that I've grown extremely fond of you and wanna get to know you more and would like to grow as an individual with you. I never tell my friends about a girl I have a crush on/ would like to date/ somebody I see as a potential partner; but this time it just felt right.

I understand that such things always need to be two sided, and my affection and attachment doesn't decide it all and infact is as good as ek haath ki taali (known as a thappad). So if you hav any faith in me, all I ask is a chance for us to be friends, spend time together, and see where it takes us.

Echo @ Barclays

Proudly finishing a month at Barclays.
Will probably have to write a book or start a new blog (*under construction*)on my scintillating journey here.

An experience that really makes your eyes glittering and that spark on your face is out of scope for this ink.

Understanding the learning so faaaaar
Life is an echo..
What you send out, comes back.
What you sow, you reap.
What you give, you get.
What you see in others, exists in you.
Do not judge and you will not be judged.
Radiate and give love..
Love will come back to you.

When you dream

Found this somewhere,
Worth a read :)
When you have a dream then it is so easy to get lost in planning how you will
accomplish it. To drift away in daydreams about how it will be. But also to get
stuck in fears about failing with it.

So you make a common choice and wait - and wait and wait for maybe years - for
just the right time to take action and get started with making that dream into
something real.

Now, to be realistic, not every dream may be something you can get started with
right now. But there are many that you can get going with.

The key here is to make things easy on yourself. You don't have to dive in with a
big and extremely courageous jump. If that was the case then only the bravest
people in the world would do and achieve what they want.

Instead, take a small step forward. Take one small action. That is it.

Then tomorrow you can take another small step forward.

The important thing is that you get started and get going instead spending so
much time on just waiting and feeling more and more frustrated and unhappy
about the state of your dreams.

Focus on that. And step by step start making this autumn into what you deep
down want it to be.

Love must free, Not Stifle

Joy,  it should nurture happiness and freedom.. not create scary control zones of its own!!

Why should loving someone mean constantly living in their hair??

I would like to spend quality time with him, and carry the happiness and peace from there to all spheres of life.
I cannot just be a beloved; I am a daughter, a sister,  a friend, a professional and a woman with my own pursuits too. That does not mean he would not still be the most important focus of my life.

Interestingly, Man have same complaints. It is so demeaning to them to constantly explain themselves to a woman. Her watch on-  the accounts for the hours spent away from her, untraceable whatsapp radar,  last seens..etc However, that does not mean he's unfaithful. ........
It is more of a deep need to be trusted, and a desire to keep one's space sacrosanct.

"Emotional Intensity in this era of intrusive technology,  is SCARY rather than DESIRABLE"

I would prefer a free-flowing, friendly and respectful FREE relationship. Wait hang on, Personal freedom doesn't mean the 'freedom to cheat'. It basically means that you do not try to control or question each other. It implies deep RESPECT and granting each other some privacy and personal space,  and accepting each other with unconditional love.
It implies deeeeeeeep faith.
Indeed,  nobody wishes to be answerable to another;  I personally insist on guarding our personal spaces, and still being trusted.

In this era, where also Economic freedom has helped to stretch personal limits, romance should adapt too and make space for personal freedom.

Unlikely,
How eyes that adore, pretty soon turn watchful;
Loving thoughts turn suspicious;
And delight in moments together becomes demand for exclusivity... then, It is best to start off as you mean to go on- to understand each other's need to nurture and protect his or her space and identity.

Sooo, What may have been aspirational once is ridiculous and scary today to someone.
Being in Love doesn't bring the rest of life to a standstill.

What you look for is just an island of peace where you can plug in to recharge before returning to the chaotic world.

Love cannot and must not be allowed to create a terror zone of its own.
Rightly said, Love should nurture freedom, not stifle it.

Sorting Out

After 3 weeks at the most awesome workplace, Joy gets some 'me' time this sunday to sort her shelves, drawers, almirah everything that needed her touch and look what she peacefully gathers piece by piece...
Every extra thing that she did in the last 4 years of Engineering
Hard to call them things, they are her soulmatessss, yes she has many ;)
They are her-
Planning material- to be efficient

Scrapbooks- to gather the world in it

Picture Books- that made her resemble it

Travel columns- the biggest bundle of all

Novels- she could not sleep without

Drawings- that shined

Newspaper clippings- the findings that thrilled her

20Ques lookbacks- to retrospect her week

Diaries & Journals- which made her thoughts clearer and brighter

Wordpowers- the new words that became her companion

...... and the list goes on.....
Bringing them at a place got her tears and a lot of memories with each one of it!!

Why she wondersss...
Because it made her question things, changed her reality, marked a before and after in her life and revolutionised her world.
So We must continually learn to revise...much that we have learned,  and learn to learn that we have not been taught.

Only thus do we and our subject grows....

Joy's advice for this Friendships Day also her Birthday ;)

"Joy is not in things or places.. It is in us..."

Remember the time when they just hung around you all the time...
When you would talk to them all day.. and your parents had to literally pull you off the phone..
When you could discuss the sexists jokes to stock markets..
When you would walk them home, and then they would walk you home, and then you would walk them home again, till you couldn't walk any longer..
When you would plan the craziest trips with them and still be happy to go to the nearest Joshi wadewala to eat Misal and wada pav if plans failed..
When you swore that no matter where on earth you guys were in the future, you would still make time for each other.

------------------------------------------------
And then the future took over. You guys had everything you wanted, but TIME.
Your friends became mere numbers on your mobile, and members on your chat groups.

You remembered your friends fondly and frequently,  but didn't have the time to actually call them.

"Wassup?" They'd text once in a while to make you feel their presence in your life....and you'd say "Stuck in a meeting as usual"... "Oh Sorry" they'd say.. and you'd reply, "Shall call you SOON"..
Sooooooon never arrived and you never called.
And When you finally had some time, you were too embarrassed.

So This Friendship Day.. Don't text them.. Don't call them... Don't forward them the message that was forwarded to you by the guy from office whose name you never remembered...
Just arrive announced at their door, like you always tried doing.
They'll be #OverJoyed...

Hang around with them, ask them to join you for a coffee and before you know it, This Friendship Day will be exactlyyyy how every day of your life was back then...
And how it's meant to be now.

Because-

Friends let you know that you are not alone on the road of life

Through life we suffer. Through friends we never have to suffer alone

A friend is someone who listens when you speak, understands when you cry and guides you on your way ahead.

Life Purpose = 5 Questions to Answer

How can you know your life purpose by answering just 5 questions...

Because
"Unexamined Life is not worth living..loving..."

1.Who you are?

2. What do you do or love to do.. something that you are supremely qualified to teach other people?

3.Who do you do it for?

4. What do that people want or need from you (that you have)?

5. How do they change or transform as a result of what you give them?

So you realise that only 2 out of 5 are for ourselves and the remaining 3 for others.

This formulation makes us outward facing.

All the happier people knew whom they help, what they needed and how do these people changed as a result.
So, The successful ones in the world know how they serve others than how they are served.

If we make others happy, Life teaches us that we will be taken care of tooooo...

Remembering the People's President

Lost someone whom I always looked upon..
"The GENTLEMAN"
Our rocket scientist, the brain behind India's Space and Missile programme, making our country an exclusive member of the Space club..
Sir, You taught us "Yes We can!!"

Joy recalls the opportunity of hearing you in COEP college last year, sitting just few rows behind you and wanting to grab that 1 out of 2 chances to ask you a question..
I was mesmerised by your simplicity...
Wish to be like you Sir where people don't say

A dog's NamEkaran ;)

The name of the dog tells you much about the owner, a study by several canine behaviourists.
Fo instance, if your dog is called vodka or breezer, you won't be happy in Gujrat.. :p

Dot, Simba, Elsa, Anna, Mickey, Apple, Olive all point to children having a hand in naming the dog.

Those named Hades, Judas, Athena, Captain- signal the dignity the owners want to give their animal companions.
Dimsum, Frankie/Subway (my fav), Bonbon, Toffee tell us you are not a fan of balanced diets ;) Right?

Guys might want a macho dog, like say Huskie and end up calling it Chaddi :p
Girls... O Girls..  don't even try calling ur one's Panty :')

So all in all, Joy feels there are no hard and fast rules to naming your dog... because Dog notice tones much before they understand words.
So Call your dog with a smile on your face and a sing-song tone.. and you will be amazed on how lovingly your dog adapts the name...

And don't forget they have a penchant for Long walks.. So it's time to show them the Marine Drive :)

Sob Sob

The girl who laughs and talks a lot and seems happy is also the girl who cries after watching Bajrangi Bhaijaan with her sister in crime ;')
#ChalbetaSelfieLeLeRe

Joy keeps keeps wondering, if cinema can serve to mitigate the complex issues that plague the India Pakistan relationships.
Can they really help to transform the two-way ties???
When she tries to know more on this, she finds the contrary :/......
Because such soft links always remain hostage to the whims of respective political authorities... duhhhh
So Should we believe that cultural exchanges can't be expected to address Indo-Pak problems?
Citing some examples-
1. Cricketing ties were put on hold after 26/11 Mumbai Terror attacks.

2. Several Pakistani Artists have been prevented from performing in India by groups like Shiv Sena.

3. Bajrangi Bhaijaan's release in Pakistan itself was a rare phenomenon since films on Indo-Pak themes are regularly banned in the country.

So, Joy thinks It's rightly said in the movie:::::
"Nafrat badi asaani se bik jaati hai, lekin mohabbat nahi"

A Sindhi Chokri.. yep that's Me

Well, we all know that Sindhi's are known for their love for food and alcohol... and did I forget gold and money!

But there's just so much more to them than this. A Sindhi girl is one of the most bindaas, yet polite girl you'll come across. She makes one of the best companions.

Who is a Sindhi chokri...?

1)She's a total foodie and whips up the world's best food too!!

She loves food... Not only that, she understands the fact that the way to a guy's heart does go through his stomach - quite literally. She is so good at making the oh-so-yum Sindhi cuisine; Parathas, Aloo Tuk, Sai Bhaji, Doda, Koki and also all those Continental, Italian and Chinese dishes. Name it and she'll have it ready for dinner!

#ThanksMomForteachingMeAlltheDelicacies

2.) Style comes naturally to her, so much so that she can look her ultimate best even in the simplest attire.

Style runs in her blood or probably genes. She can sway you wearing that 'Little Black Dress' with high heels and even that plain Anarkali. She can literally carry off - anything. Especially the red lipstick.

#MomNeverBuyMeARedLipstickHeelsWouldDo

3.) She's the perfect mix of a homely, family oriented girl and an outgoing, party hard personality.

She lives with her parents - and they are the most chilled out people! Yet, she's born and brought up with all those typical Sindhi rules and even those traditions and thus she understands the importance of a relationship. Brownie points if you get to chill with her parents, drinking some daaru. Besides, when out with her, you will get introduced to her wild side that will leave you and others awestruck!

#SomeBrownieForMe

4.) She's not kanjooos, she just possesses incredible bargaining skills.

While everybody call Sindhis, Chindis and Kanjoos, they are simply people who value money. She's been brought up that way. She understands how much money matters and knows where and on what to spend and how much to spend! And be sure about the fact that she will imbibe that value in you too.

#RemindsMeOfAllMyShoppingExperiences

5.) She respects and understands the importance of relationships and acceptance.

She knows that relationships are very significant and so is trust and acceptance for a long lasting one. She's going to love you with all your flaws and expects the same.

#LovedToBeThis

6.) She is a crazy dancer. Prepare to put on your dancing shoes too.

Seen the authentic Sindhi dance? Lol! Well, no but on a serious note - Sindhi girls are born dancers. From Sangeets, Shaadis to Clubs and Pubs; she can make you dance off your shoes!

#MyContemporaryMovesCanBeAnAddOn

7.) She's as independent as it gets.

She is the most independent woman and doesn't mind doing any work entrusted to her independently. So, don't you worry about paying all the bills yourself, she's gonna split it with you.

#bhaichara

8.) She's not in a hurry to tie the knot; but when she does, it sure as hell will be epically stylish!

And lavish! Like the typical big fat Sindhi shaadi. **Tries To Imagine All The Money Spent On Sindhi Weddings**

#NoBandBajaWhiteGownForMe

9.) She is beautiful - inside, out and isn't arrogant about that.

Isn't she just the prettiest girl you've met. With that long hair, pretty smile and beautiful eyes. Not just physically but she's a beautiful mind too. And she doesn't throw a fit about it!

She's a total charmer.

Engine ki seeti mein

Apart from being the largest employer in the country, Indian Railways has often been an inspiration to many a creative pursuit.. ranging from travelogues to odes on the sights, sounds and romance associated with train travel.

You know what, Authors from Rudyard Kipling to Ruskin Bond have rhapsodised on the charms of the railways.

Have I??

Author Joy :p also has turned her attention to the railways.
Though, She has not got too much of a chance to travel through the scintillating platforms, crowded bogies and our super-fast-never-halting trains.. hehehe
She wonders about the hidden charms and beauty of a railway junction, the lives that revolve around it and the stories that follow.

Hope she gets to travel and observe the platforms, the trains, employment of people around it and so so many other things...

Finding the roots of Monasticism, Sacrifice, Repentance and Obedience

O..On my way up the hill...
I found some new friends!!
Are they Monks? No..
Much more than what WE KNEW about the most lovely beings alive.

"Ecce quam bonum et quam jucundum habitare fratres in unum" they taught Joy..
Meaning- Behold how good and how pleasant it is to dwell together in Unity ####

So True, when we say Monks have but one heart and one soul...

The members of Monastic orders have withdrawn themselves from the world for religious reasons, living according to a particular rule under the vows of poverty,  chasity and obedience.
They lead, a more or less contemplative life apart from the world.

A mere transliteration of the greek monachos is believed to be connected with monos, 'single' and is suggestive of a life of solitude.

Wow...
Reading more about them after my meeting followed:

When the Holy Spirit established the Church on Pentecost, those who followed Christ were given a way to praise God and work towards salvation together, instead of struggling alone.

Every Christian should be  working toward salvation (which means "coming closer to God")....

But some men and women are called by Him to put all their efforts into knowing Him. They love praying to God and studying His Word so much that they do not marry or have children. The lives of these monks and nuns are totally dedicated to God.

Monks and nuns live away from the rest of the world in communities called monasteries.

The most important job of a monk or nun is to pray by reading the holy Hours, participating in frequent (sometimes daily) Liturgy, and observing all the other services.

Monks and nuns go to Church several times a day, every day!

So, while we are at college orc at work, or playing, monks and nuns make sure that praise is always offered to God.Day or night, a monk or a nun somewhere in the world is singing to God or praying silently.

Monks and nuns pray for us.

They pray in our place when we are doing something which keeps us from saying our own prayers, and they pray on our behalf by asking God to grant salvation and health to every being. Because of monks and nuns, we are always remembered before God.

What a great gift!
Will remember meeting them and the cute smiles on their face because of my curiosity for a very veryyyy long time..

When you discuss inside and Debate..

When you listen if you are arguing,  if you are judging , If you are saying this is right and this is not..
If you are continuously sorting out things inside, that means you are listening but not listening well.

You are listening with your past interfering.
Who is this judging?
It is not you, it is your past.
You have read a few things, heard a few more..and you have been conditioned for a few other things.

It is the past continuously interfering. Do you know..The past wants to perpetuate itself, It does not allow anything that can disrupt it.
It does not allow anything new. It only allows the old that fits with it. That's what you go on doing when you judge, when you DISCUSS INSIDE AND DEBATE.

if you have really opened up yourself and there is no interference or disturbance inside.. only then you have opened your heart.
And if the seed falls into the heart, sooner or later it will become a tree, sooner or later it is going to bloom.
It may take a little time for it to become a tree. It will have to wait for the right season, for the spring to come, but it will definitely become a tree.

Conversations make sense....sometimes.......

Conversation isn't just a crossfire where you shoot and get shot at;
where you've got to duck for your life and aim to kill..
Words aren't only bombs and bullets..
They are little gifts, containing meanings.... sometimes....

Joy wants to seek the TruTh

An oil lamp becomes brighter after trimming;
A truth becomes clearer after being discussed.
When we face a difficult or a complicated problem in our life, only by discussion and debate can we get the correct answer...
Truth develops through the comparison of ideas.

Need for Empathy

The essence of love and compassion is understanding the ability to recognize the physical, mental and psychological suffering of others, to put ourselves "inside the skin" of the other.

Shallow observation as an outsider is not enough.

What it felt to ride a Harley Davidson today :)

As fear crippled my thoughts,
I could see an impending doom.
Not the road that lay ahead,
An irrational fear did consume.

As the way came to an end,
My heart swelled with hope,
Of living a brighter tomorrow,
Not constrained and ready to cope.

So, I took the leap of faith,
To my friend echoing my name.
And in those few seconds I knew,
Life would never be the same.

She's creative, funny, talented, sugar...
the person I always think to call first when I have good news or a bad day, the person who has always encouraged me to follow my dreams..

As a daughter, This Day gives me the opportunity to tell my mom how much I appreciate, respect and admire her.

Her eternal optimism.
Her unwavering faith.
Her encouragement
Her awesome mind and big heart
Her laughter

Thanks Mamma

It's easier to destroy than create or build.

Be the change agent.

You have a rupee and i have one. We exchange it with each other. We still have a rupee each.
This is transaction. I have an idea and you have an idea. We exchange, and now both of us have two ideas. This is transformation.

In a relationship, discuss issues and only issues, and it is a transactional relationship. Begin to invest in issueless-moments and you will create a transformational relationship, where you will grow, the other will grow and yes Joy the relationship tooooooo will grow.

Let everything that passes by you gain value.

Let every life that crosses your life be changed for the better.

Add value to every moment... Add value to every relation.

Transform every transaction by adding value to it.

Be an alchemist.

In helping others to become better, you become better.

Let everything become better in your presence.

Leadership is in evolving transactional opportunities into transformational opportunities.

Lead the way....
Be a change agent.

Keep going.... And Keep helping people to keep growing :)

Happy May..!!
